Tara and Matt’s wedding day at Locust Hall Farm was a beautiful celebration of love and family, wrapped in the warmth of a May day. As lifelong family friends of the Johnsons, who own the charming Locust Hall Farm, Tara’s connection to the venue added an extra layer of sentimentality to the occasion. The day began with the couple exchanging heartfelt letters, setting a tender tone for the events to come. Their first look was a moment of pure joy, captured against the picturesque backdrop of the farm’s rolling fields and historic buildings! Their portraits consisted of capturing these two wandering the grounds at Locust Hall and soaking in the sweetness of their day.
A favorite moment of mine to capture was when Tara and Matt were tucked away inside the farmhouse as guests began to arrive for their ceremony, these two were in quiet conversation and you could just feel the happiness radiating from them. It wasn’t long before Matt was under the floral arch awaiting Tara as she walked down the aisle towards him, arm in arm with her parents. Such a joyous ceremony as these two became husband and wife!
Guests made their way to enjoy an early summer cocktail hour on the lawn, a beautiful prerequisite for the celebration to come as the evening continued on. An organic floral arch framed the entrance to the white tent, inviting guests into the reception area with its natural beauty. As they entered they were greeted by stunning florals, a blend of whites with pops of pink and peach, creating a fresh and romantic ambiance. Tara’s love for horses was thoughtfully woven into the wedding design, featuring ribbons, vintage horse busts, and a specialty cocktail sign that paid homage to her equestrian passion. The Breezeway Barn was transformed into an enchanting space with greenery hung from the ceiling, forming a lush canopy that brought the outside in.
As the day turned to evening, Tara and Matt’s favorite moment unfolded naturally. After sunset portraits by the field, everyone gathered outside to soak in the breathtaking sunset over the farm. It was a serene pause, a shared appreciation of the day’s beauty, before the festivities resumed. As Tara and Matt made their way back inside and towards their dance floor, a special surprise from Allie, who runs the venue, added a touch of nostalgia and magic: she recreated the spot where Matt asked Tara to be his girlfriend during the Johnsons’ New Year’s Eve party years prior, providing a perfect photo opportunity and a sweet nod to their relationship’s beginnings! It was only moments before the dance floor came alive, and the celebration continued with boundless energy. Friends and family danced the night away, the joyful atmosphere a testament to the love and happiness that Tara and Matt radiate. Their wedding at Locust Hall Farm was not just a union of two hearts, but a beautiful gathering of loved ones, and a day that will forever be looked back on with full hearts and so much joy!
